Pyper is 1 month

Miss Pyper, where have the last 4 weeks gone? I can't believe you are already 1 month old. What a fun month it has been with you. We all have gotten into a good routine and groove as a family of four.

You are so sweet, you just melt our hearts. You are already spoiled rotten but we wouldn't have it any other way.

You get a bath every other night. You have really started to enjoy bath time. You cry at first because your cold from being undressed but as soon as you hit the water you calm down and relax and kick your little legs. You don't even mind when I rub you down with lotion now.

I'm still pumping what I can for you and we have to supplement with formula.  Your still only eating about 2 ounces at a time. I'm starting to wonder if you aren't developing some reflux like your brother had. You don't seem to enjoy eating and you cry out and arch your back a lot after you have eaten. Also, during the day some days you only eat an ounce at a time. This is classic reflux symptoms. Sometimes babies grow out of it so that's why I have put off calling the doctor to call you in some zantac.  You are very picky and if your bottle is even luke warm you won't take it.

Your still mostly in all newborn clothing with some 0-3 month stuff. I can tell the newborn clothing isn't going to last you but about a week or two longer though.

You took your first trip last week at 2 weeks and 5 days old. We went to your Grammy and Poppy's house for the week. You did awesome in the car. We left after a feeding and you slept the whole way their. You were a little fussy on the way back, (this is when i started suspecting reflux) and we had to pull over and get you out to burp you and hold you a bit but we didn't mind. After we stopped for about 10 minutes you slept the rest of the way!

You don't mind when other people hold you but if your fussy or tired all you won't is your Momma (which i LOVE). Your poor Daddy can't even get you calmed down. It drives him crazy, one night I went to read to your brother and lay down with him in bed for a little while and I heard you crying. You stopped for about 2 seconds and then continued to cry for the next 10 minutes. I could hear your Daddy in here talking to you and trying to console you but nothing was working. He finally came in and asked if he could lay with your brother and I take care of you. The second I picked you up you laid your head on my chest and went right to sleep. You Daddy came running out to see what I had done, he couldn't believe all I did was pick you up and you stopped crying.

You love to lay in your swing to sleep. You tuck your hands up under your chin and fall right to sleep with the movement. Your also sleeping in your bouncer in our room at night. You like the vibrations and this helps with the reflux stuff. Your sleeping routine is getting a little better. We still have a few rough nights in between but that's to be expected at this age. Your brother didn't start sleeping through the night until 2 months. You are going for a good 4 to 5 hour stretch though, which means you are usually only up once to eat. You can sleep through anything! Your brother can be running around the house yelling like a wild Indian and you never even flinch. You always fall asleep when I vacuum or blow dry my hair, I guess the noises are soothing to you.

You still don't HAVE to have your pacifier. You will take it some when your fussy or tired but if you really don't want it you spit it out or gag if we try to give it to you. I'm so thankful you don't need it while you are sleeping!
Just hanging out!

You have never been a fan of the swaddle. You like your arms to be free. I've tried swaddling you several times at bedtime and you grunt and cry and get mad because you can't stretch out and move. When we move you to your room I'll try again, your brother was the same way but when he moved to his room he wanted to be swaddled.

You love to lay on your play mat in the middle of the floor and watch the ceiling fan. You will bat at some of the toys on the mat but then they scare you when they move and make you mad. It's pretty cute to watch.

We took you to church for the first time last Sunday, June 17th. You were 3 weeks and 5 days old. You wore the special little outfit Grammy and Poppy bought you and brought to the hospital as a gift. You did wonderful, you slept right through all the music and communion and everything. We took you to the alter after communion and your Daddy prayed over you, it was the sweetest thing ever.
In your outfit for Church from Grammy and Pop!

You are still the loudest little girl ever. You grunt and groan while your sleeping. Your Daddy always thinks your waking up but your usually just stretching and really enjoying your sleep.

Lots of people have said you are looking like me, your Grammy really thinks so! She pulled out all my baby pictures while we were there to compare. The one on the right is me. What do you think?

We are so blessed by you Pyper girl! We are just so thankful the Lord chose us to be your earthly parents and we pray that we are raising you in a way that is pleasing to Him. You make our hearts so full and add so much joy to this family! We love you so much! We look forward to the next month of new things!
1 month today!

A week at Grammy and Poppy's

Last week Brody had a training for work in North Carolina so rather than stay at home by myself all week, the kids and I loaded up and drove to my parents house! I was SO EXCITED to go home since my doctor wouldn't let me travel after the first of January.

This was Pyper's first road trip and she did awesome! We left on Sunday after a feeding and she slept the whole way down there. She was awake more on the trip home but fussed very little.

My parents starting remodeling their kitchen in March so not only were we anxious to see them but I was so excited to see their beautiful new kitchen, and beautiful it was!!!

Our week was jam packed full of fun and relaxation. Wade is obsessed with trains right now. He's been into Thomas the train for quite some time now but when we moved he discovered that their is a train that runs behind our house sometimes and he is all about real trains and he LIVES to hear that train whistle. We usually have to drive once a day and try to find the train and get it to whistle for him. Anyway, that's all he could tell my Dad about was the train, so Dad decided it would be fun to take him to Abilene and by him an electric train. That little boy looked like a kid on Christmas morning when he and my Dad got it all set up! It kept him busy for hours each day.

Loving on his Poppy and telling him Thank you!
Happy Boy and his Poppy!
Working on setting it up!
Almost ready to play with
Tuesday, we spent the day relaxing and visiting with my grandparents! Mom spoiled me rotten and cooked my favorite meal and dessert too!

Wednesday, we loaded the kids up and headed out to Wichita Falls to see my sister. She moved to a cute house while I was pregnant so I had yet to see it too. We ate at a cute little bakery and spent the afternoon hitting all the cute shops.

Princess relaxing a Grammy's
Thursday, my brother and his girlfriend arrived and we all went to Albany to eat mexican food and catch up with them. Wade was so excited to see his uncle Brant. He was so excited that he woke uncle Brant up first Friday morning. Being the sweet brother that he is he new I'd been up with Pyper during the night and he played with Wade all morning and let me sleep until 10. It was glorious.

Friday night Brody arrived late. Wade was so excited to see his Daddy! And Brody was excited to see him and Pyper, and me too i suppose haha!

We all had a lazy Saturday morning and Mom cooked us lunch and then we started are trek back home. We had so much fun being with Grammy and Poppy and they certainly spoiled us rotten! I think I gained a good 5 lbs after all the wonderful food they fed us!!

Grammy loving on her girl!

I once again cried half the way home after hanging out with my Mom for a week. Yes, I'm 24 and haven't lived at home or close to home for the past 6 years but I still wish I did and it's never easy driving off, specially with your little boy asking for his Grammy on the ride home. Maybe one day we will live even closer. Thanks for a great week Grammy and Pop!

2 weeks!

Miss Pyper, you have been a part of this family for two whole weeks now and they have been the best two weeks!!

You are already such an easy going baby! To hear you cry is rare! You don't even really cry when you are hungry, you just kinda of start grunting and rooting around. You are a fairly good sleeper. I say fairly good because on the nights that you do sleep you sleep awesome but that is only about every other night. They say babies can have a fussy time at the same time every day. We have discovered yours is usually between the hours of 12 AM and 2 AM. Again, this is usually just every other night.

You are eating so good, usually between 2 to 2 1/2 oz. During the day you go anywhere from 3 to 4 hours between feedings. At night you are a consistent 3 hours. Usually, you eat at 12, 3, and 6 am.

You aren't too sure about bath time yet. You hated your first sponge bath at home. Luckily, your umbilical cord fell off the Sunday after we brought you home so we could start taking real baths. Your first real bath you pretty much cried through as well. However, the last two you've had the crying has lessened and I can tell your trying to decide if you like the water or if you should cry.

You will take a paci but you don't HAVE to have it which I like. You sure don't need it to fall asleep like your brother did!

You are starting to have longer awake periods during the day. Usually, you have at least two good two hour stretches that you are awake. You love to lay on your play mat and you look around while you are awake. Your sweet little blue eyes follow our voices if we have to get up for a minute.

Your brother wasn't too sure what to think about you the first two days. I think he was shocked to find that you were in HIS house when we brought you home. After the first day home though he started to warm up to you and now it's like you've always been here. He wakes up in the mornings asking where you are. When he decides he wants to hold you he just sticks his arms out and says, "I hold it." He loves to be a part of your diaper changes. He is quick to hand me your diaper and the box of wipes and stand by with an interested yet disgusted look on his face.
Clearly he loves you!!

You don't mind us laying you down to nap or sleep at night but you are definitely most content snuggled in our arms or laying on our chest, which we are soaking up. People say not to hold you too much, that we will spoil you, well guess what, we held your brother a lot and he made it just fine! We intend on soaking up every moment that you want to snuggle, I know far to well how quickly these precious moments are going to fly by. I'm savoring them while I can.

We love you so much little princess and we can't wait to see what the next two weeks bring us. We can't imagine our life without you now!
