This sweet boy is having his first surgery tomorrow. At 7:00 am tomorrow he will be having his tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes put in his ears.
Poor baby has always battled ear infections. He got his first one at about 6 months, I remember it was right after he started getting teeth. I had several people tell me their kids started getting sick once they began teething. The ear infections weren't too bad a first. The would clear up quickly and stay gone for a few months. This past winter though they began to get more frequent. The doctor felt like it could be the cool winter months playing a role so she wanted us to wait it out till the spring. Well, Spring rolled around and the got worse. Since February, we have been to the doctor with ear infections, strep, tonsillitis and most of the time a combination of ear infections and tonsillitis at least once every 6 weeks. That's A LOT!!!!
Needless to say, Wade is tired of taking medicine, to the point that he just won't take it anymore, which means we have had to start asking for shots, which breaks this Momma's heart.
So Monday, we saw an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. They did a test check the movement of his ear drum which showed NONE! Meaning, there is a lot of fluid built up behind there. They also checked his hearing which was delayed and below average. They felt like it wasn't permanent and would be 100% once they got the fluid drained off. They said everything he hears right now is very muffled and probably distorted a little. Which would explain his delayed speech. He is talking but it took him a little bit to really get going on it and he seems to have trouble with some beginning and ending sounds. I know he can't hear an F sound because he calls a fox a "box". So hopefully, with improved hearing will come improved speech. Don't get me wrong 90% of the time people can understand what he is saying but the other 10% of the time people look to me for translation.
Dr. S took one look at his records and ears and throat and decided the sooner we could get all this taken care of the better. He actually wanted to do the surgery yesterday but seeing as how that was two days after we saw him we thought Friday would give us enough time to get things ready and in order.
We just hope this keeps him well and improves his health all around. We have to be at the hospital at 6:00 AM in the morning. Miss Pyper is going to stay with her Nonnie and Papaw for a few hours this evening while Brody and I take Wade to dinner and to a little amusement park for a little fun. We also have to tried to explain to him what will happen tomorrow and why, that is probably going to be the hard part.
Please lift our baby boy up in prayer in the morning, and this Momma! It's hard enough seeing your babies get poked at the doctors office but to have to start an IV and put them under is going to be hard.

My eyes well reading your post. It IS hard watching your children be sick. Will be thinking of you all and joining so many others as we lift you up in prayer.
Poor baby! And poor mama! I will be praying for Wade...that he heals quickly and that he will be feeling much better in the days to come! I'll also be praying for comfort for you as I know it'll be hard to see your sweet boy go in for surgery!
I pray everything goes smoothly tomorrow, for you and your little man! I can't imagine how hard it will be for you! I hope much health is in your future!
